The Africa Canada Accountability Coalition (ACAC) is an advocacy group based out of the Liu Institute for Global Issues at the University of British Columbia (UBC). ACAC translates research about human security in the Great Lakes region – DR Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi – into concrete policy recommendations for which ACAC and its supporters can intelligently advocate.
ACAC creates platforms for Canadians to critically reflect on the human security ramifications of Canada’s involvement in the Great Lakes Region of Africa. Firmly believing that education must catalyze change, ACAC engages relevant stakeholders – academia, government, the UN, non-profit sector, local citizens, the diaspora, media and others – in discussions about how Canada can build a mutually-beneficial relationship with Africa – one of which all Africans and Canadians can be proud.
