Upcoming Events & Current Project: Canada, Where Are You?
Upcoming Events & Current Project: Canada, Where Are You?
ACAC, building on its commitment to academic based advocacy and two previous reports, has distributed a policy brief to key experts & stakeholders as part of a consultation and feedback process, and written responses will be published in a special Mark Feature by The Mark News.
ACAC believes that advocates can and should be engaged beyond awareness building of conflicts & issues. Because of this, ACAC is working on three initiatives to engage citizens. First, we are co-sponsoring an online discussion with The Mark News that will bring together experts and stakeholders from Africa & Canada, with engaged & interested citizens for a nation-wide online policy consultation on November 2nd.
Discussions will take place in a chat format and will center around ACAC’s policy brief on Canadian options in the region. To read the brief, click here.
As well, ACAC is hosting a one night interactive exhibit at the Liu Institute for Global Issues at the University of British Columbia: bringing together academia, advocacy, art, photography, installations, media & technology to provide tools for citizens to get engaged, get involved and shape the policy itself.
Lastly, ACAC has developed unique web applications that will provide a way for Canadians across the country to weigh on policy, beyond simply signing petitions. You will be invited to contribute – prioritize – strategize, building on ACAC’s policy brief and the subsequent responses by experts. These web applications will be hosted online for a month, to be launched on Nov. 2.
This is your chance to shape concrete policy, beyond simply voicing approval or disapproval. Get in on the online discussion, if you’re in Vancouver come to the exhibit, and make sure you click around the exciting web applications!
